Contributions and Withdrawals
The responsible Ministers may credit amounts or transfer financial assets to the Future Fund in accordance with Schedule 1 of the Future Fund Act 2006. The Nation-building Fund Act 2008 details arrangements for contributions to the Nation-building Funds.
Details of contributions made to the Future Fund and Nation-building Funds are maintained on the Department of Finance and Deregulation's website.
Withdrawals from the Future Fund may only occur once the superannuation liabilty is fully offset or from 1 July 2020, whichever is the earlier, although investment and administration expenses may be drawn from the Future Fund throughout its existence.
The Target Asset Level is used to determine the present value of projected unfunded superannuation liabilities and is provided by the designated actuary specified in a determination by the nominated Minister. The Target Asset Level is available on the Department of Finance and Deregulation's website.
Withdrawals from the Nation-building Funds are determined by Government, subject to the advice of the relevant advisory Board and oversight of the maximum spending from the funds by Parliament through the Appropriation Bills.
