The Future Fund has been recognised for excellence in AsianInvestor’s 2019 Institutional Excellence Awards.

Recognising the Future Fund in the Australia/New Zealand markets category, AsianInvestor acknowledged the Future Fund’s ongoing focus on enhancing its technology capabilities, its whole of portfolio investment processes and its commitment to portfolio diversification.

Hon Peter Costello AC, Chairman of the Future Fund Board of Guardians, said:

‘The Future Fund is Australia’s sovereign wealth fund, created to strengthen the Australian Government’s long-term financial position. Through the application of a prudent and disciplined investment strategy, we have produced strong long-term returns and over $105 billion in earnings since the Fund was established in 2006. With the five other public asset funds the Board of Guardians manages, we now invest over $210 billion for the Australian Government.’

Mr David Neal, Chief Executive Officer of the Future Fund Management Agency, said:

‘Thank you to AsianInvestor for recognising the Future Fund as a leading investor in the Australian and New Zealand market. We are proud to be recognised among our peers.

Since the Future Fund was established we have focused on constructing a portfolio that can be as efficient as possible at turning risk into return. Our team collectively channels its best ideas, irrespective of asset class, up to the total portfolio to achieve the Fund’s investment objective.

With the size and complexity of our investment task growing, we have continued our work on ensuring the organisation is in the best shape it can be. Access to high quality information is key to investment decision-making and we have made great progress in our efforts to materially upgrade our investment data and analytics capabilities. We believe that the role technology can play in adding value to our processes and ultimately our portfolios is profound.

‘We are excited about the challenges and opportunities facing us in the years ahead as we strive to build on the success we have achieved to date.’
